Teacher Refresher Course:

Methodology and Language

2 weeks, 30 lessons (45 minutes each),
C1 minimum level required, A2+ for primary teachers
The participants will undergo a variety of teaching methods.
In the group course: learner-oriented, communicative tuition
In the methodology lessons: Presentations, working together in small groups, evaluation.

Preparation
The participants will get a bibliography and other useful pre-course information.

Follow-up
Participants will be asked to hand in a detailed commentary on the course, including how the course will impact on the professional development in their own country.

Objectives
- to refresh the oral and listening skills of German
- to update one’s knowledge in current German affairs
- to enlarge one’s skills in methodology and didactics in teaching German
- to be able to apply a modern, communication-oriented teaching methodology
- to benefit from the exchange and sharing of best practice with colleagues.

Sample Timetable
Linguistic skills
Monday to Friday 09.00 to 10.30 &  11.00 to 12.30,
20 lessons x 45 min per week in international groups
Max. class size 10 (12 in July/August)
Training of oral and listening skills,
Idiomatic matters,
Error correction,
Teaching German by using current texts
Creating situations for spontaneous speaking.

Methodology
Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri from 13.30: a total of 10 weekly lessons
2-4 participants in a group or 5 individual lessons
Methodology of communication-oriented teaching
New books
Analysis of teaching material
Authentic teaching material
German culture
Audio-visual and computer-based methods
Working with texts.

Additional Programme
After 15.30: Talks on current political, economic, cultural, literary topics, guided city tours, cultural activities (films, cooking, …)
